Actual Footage of a Live Auto Crash – A Tale of Two Crashes

Many people are confused as to how it is possible for a person to be injured in a “Low Speed Rear Impact Crash” The above video explains very well the physics of just how the injury can happen.

Another concept that is very easily understood is called “Plastic Deformation”. This is the idea when there is a crash, the force of the crash follows through the vehicle until it dissipates. We all have seen horrific 150 mph NASCAR crashes where he car is in a crash and rolls over several times with parts of the car flying off of it every split second. With each piece that flies off of the car, the force is directed away from the occupant.

Unfortunately, the cars we drive in have bumpers that are meant to reduce the damage to our vehicles, but they actually increase the force to the occupants in the cars. Also, air bags, and seat belt unquestionably save lives by preventing occupants form being ejected from their cars, but they also increase the number of whiplash type injuries associated with car accident.

Obviously, if you have any questions or would like to make and appointment to talk with us about a car accident, you can find our contact information at  www.sheelychiro.com   If you think you are too far from our practice (People drive a long ways sometimes) , I would suggest that you contact a member doctor of the American Chiropractic Association.
